SISTER OF MARTITE DIES IN RIESEL


     Funeral services for Mrs. Ralph (DeAlva Fountain) Beard Sr., 77 of Marlin were held at 10 a.m. last Wednesday, Dec. 29, at First Baptist Church in Marlin. Rev. Loyd Chapman, Dr. Charles McLaughlin and Wayne Evans officiated with interment in Calvary cemetery in Marlin.

 

     Mrs. Beard died Tuesday morning in a Marlin hospital. She was born in Marlin Sept. 17, 1894 the daughter of the late J. C. Fountain Sr. and Lola Kyser Fountain.

 

     She was a graduate of Marlin public schools and received a degree from North Texas State University. She married Ralph Beard Sr. and the couple made their in Marlin where he managed R. E. Cox Dry Goods Co. Mr. Beard died April 13, 1951.

 

     Mrs. Beard was active in civic and cultural interests of Marlin. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

 

     Survivors include a son, Ralph Beard Jr. of Eagle Pass; a brother, J. C. Fountain Jr. of Mart; three sisters, Mrs. W. M. Parrish Sr. of Marlin, Mrs. Frank Cheavens of Arlington; and Mrs. James Patrick of Dallas; and two grandchildren.
